The 1970s building had to be completely renovated. The building technology had to be renewed and there were also mandatory energy-saving measures to be carried out on the facades.
Among other things, the natural sciences building, library, break hall, and management offices were also renovated. Due to construction defects, replacement buildings had to be erected for the nearby Siegburg Primary School, which were realized at the Marie-Durand School site as an annex of approximately 600 sqm. A small school centre was created, which, after 4 construction phases, was put back to full use in 2014 and is now the school home for children in the 1st grade.
